Milton Klein, Esq | Upon His Retirement
Author: Eldon Vern Chittick
Date: 09.18.2004

Over the past
Thirty-four years,
I've seldom been caused
To experience tears.
But seeing Milt Klein
Attempting to quit,
Produced in Carlene
A startled "No Shit?"
While I, more reserved,
Maintained my composure,
And watched with some doubt
To see him bring closure.

Co-worker, associate,
Health and Welfare head.
Who would have guessed
That it would have then led
To an exceptional Partnership
With me as his guide,
A friend, a mentor,
On whom he relied.
But Mic, as his Proctor,
Was there at his side,
And without her, we all know,
He wouldn't have survived.

So now, as I pause
And look for his 'stogie',
I focus on quotes
By the infamous Yogi.
A statement of fact
for these special things,
"It ain't (really) over
'Til the fat lady sings."

Whether cowboy, plowboy, or
Wine/Stine Connoisseur,
We're aware that you're anxious
As hell, that's for sure.
But now that you're poised
to do what you've dreaded,
You're not as Re-tired
As you are just Re-treaded.
